John Frederick Geyer, of Santa Barbara, CA age 40, passed Wednesday, February 17, 2010, (1:53pm) at Sarah House surrounded with loved ones after valiantly battling a brain tumor diagnosed over six years ago. Near the end as he struggled with his illness, John was extremely courageous, unbelievably tolerant, and remained gentle with a playful spirit. John was a man who loved Jesus and was committed to serving God. This was evident in the way he loved and served people. John gave generously to everyone his time, energy, money and love. He was constantly concerned about other's well-being even as he suffered himself. Everywhere he went he told people about the transforming love of God through Jesus Christ and his message was always backed up with his loving unselfish attitude. Fervently he dedicated his work to the family owned business, yet never missed an opportunity to lend a hand when needed. This San Marcos High School graduate, class of ‘87 was among the best drag race drivers in the sportsman ranks and known to handle almost any car in any class nationally. Notably, he won five national events and seven divisional races just to name a few. In 2002, John married his soul mate Hope Zelanka in Solvang, CA and was blessed with the birth of their son Johnny one year later. He was a faithful and devoted husband who treasured her beyond measure. As a father to little Johnny, he was a patient and stoic role model; he beamed with joy when he spoke their names. The quality of John's love will forever be evident in Hope and Johnny and all that were blessed to have known him. John leaves behind his parents, Craig and Norma Geyer, bothers Vince and Ronnie and sister Vicki, Hope his wife, son Johnny and her family, His Step mother Beth and Adoptive mother Suzie. He also leaves many friends and bothers and sisters in Christ. “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:17 An intimate family service was held on Wednesday, 24, 2010 at 2pm. John was laid to rest at the Goleta Cemetery.
